About Me – Jaquelyn Burton

profilephotoMy name is Jaquelyn Burton; I graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 2008 with a degree in Maritime Operations and Technology.

I currently hold an Unlimited Chief Mates Licence issued by the United States Coast Guard (2013). I also hold a license for Master of Vessels up to 1600 tons.

I have been working primarily on Liquefied Natural Gas Tankers, completing not only conventional loads and discharges, but also Ship to Ship transfers, commissioning, and Regasification discharges.

Working on ships is a great opportunity to travel the world and work with people from many backgrounds and cultures – to see and try new things. It has brought me to every continent (except Antarctica – I still want to go) and to meet so many people who I am lucky to know.

I hope to raise the awareness of the industry as a whole to the public. And that you will be an involved part of our maritime community. Helping to share best practices, to improve the safety, efficiency, and to lessen the impact our industry has on the environment. To continue the free movement of people and goods across the oceans to the benefit of us all.

Please take part in discussions, but be courteous or your comments will be removed.

I wish you fair winds and following seas,

Jaquelyn Burton
