Maersk Alabama and the Navy Seals

This Easter was truly a special one for those people in the Merchant Marine and those close to mariners. I myself have served aboard a similar vessel on the eastern coast of Africa the Maersk Nebraska. I have also been in the waters off of Somalia several times on the MV Advantage on voyages to Yemen and Kuwait. There have been problems of piracy in that region for decades. They just haven’t had the guts to attack a US Ship for hundreds of years. The maritime industry cannot go on paying ransoms and bribes just to continue to support commerce in the middle east and Indian ocean.  As an industry, if we continue to pay up we will continue to condone attacks on our ships.

I was recently interviewed on WTKK on the Michelle McPhee show.

Have a Happy Easter.
